Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua, better known as the Tiger Temple, Monks currently live in the temple along with 16 tigers as well as other animals such as monkeys, horses, peacocks and water buffaloes. The story of this cohabitation of man and tiger starts in 1999 Some local inhabitants found an orphaned tiger cub and brought it to Abbot Phra Acharn. In spite of the great care lavished upon it, the animal died, but just a few weeks later two more wounded tigers were found in a poacher’s trap. Three more tigers were brought in over the course of time, and since then a number of tigers have been born at the temple itself.
Note: Please do not wear any bright colored clothes, especially red. You will not be able to approach the tigers if you wear a bright outfit. Ladies are asked to dress appropriately for visiting a monastery
